Signup enrichment: what is now on your Pipedrive contacts

Contents

What this does

When someone starts a signup, we look them up in the national provider registry (NPI), search for their practice, and read their practice website. If we can confirm who they are, we write what we found to their Pipedrive contact.

The goal is simple: give you a business number to call and a website to look at before you pick up the phone, instead of a personal gmail address and nothing else.

This runs whether or not they finished signing up. Someone who abandoned the signup form is often the person you most want to reach, and they are usually the person we know least about, so they are included from the start. Of the 161 contacts updated at launch, 41 were people who dropped out partway.

Nothing you already rely on changes. We only ever add fields that start with enriched_. We never touch their name, email, or the phone number they signed up with.

What you will see on a contact

FieldWhat it is
enriched_phoneThe best business number we found. This is the one to dial.
enriched_phone_sourceWhere that number came from: the national provider registry, or their own website.
enriched_websiteTheir practice website, confirmed to be theirs.
enriched_emailA practice email address found on their site.
enriched_practice_nameThe practice name as it appears on their website.
enriched_confidenceHow sure we are. See below.
enriched_statusWhether we found anything for this person.
enriched_npiTheir national provider number, when we can confirm it.
enriched_stateThe state their practice is registered in.
enriched_evidence_urlThe page we based this on. Open it if you want to check our work.
enriched_updated_atWhen we last looked.

How much to trust it

You will only ever see two confidence levels, because we hold back anything weaker.

High. We found their practice website, confirmed it is a healthcare practice, and confirmed it is theirs. Every high-confidence match has been checked by hand so far: 62 out of 62 correct, with no wrong people. Treat these as reliable.

Medium. One solid source, usually a registry match confirmed by state and profession, but we could not find their website to double-check. Worth using, worth a quick look at the evidence link first.

Anything below that is not sent to Pipedrive at all. If we searched and came up empty, you simply see nothing, rather than a record cluttered with dead ends.

Three things to know before you call

The number is usually the practice line, not a direct line. It is the number filed with the provider registry or published on their website, so expect a front desk.

Seniority is not implied. We confirm the person and their practice, not their job title. This matters most for people who dropped out of signup, who skew towards admin staff rather than practice owners.

We never create new contacts. If someone is not already in Pipedrive, enrichment does not add them. Your contact list only grows the way it always has.

Working the drop-outs

People who abandon signup give us less to work with, because they quit before telling us their practice name. So we find less for them, and almost never a website.

The business phone is the exception, and it is the field that matters most for calling. It comes from the national provider registry, which only needs a name and a state, and drop-outs do give us those. So you still get a dialable number for roughly one in five.

One split is worth building a call list around: a drop-out who signed up with a work email address is nearly as findable as someone who finished signing up. Those are worth calling first. Someone who used a personal gmail address and left no practice name is the thinnest case, and often we find nothing at all.

Two cautions specific to this group. They skew towards admin staff rather than practice owners, so check who you are actually speaking to. And a small number of them, roughly one in fifteen, did in fact finish signing up later, so check their account status before pitching them as a new prospect.

Already done

161 existing contacts have been updated with everything we had found up to launch: 120 who completed signup and 41 who dropped out. New signups flow through automatically from here, about an hour after they start.

If something looks wrong

Tell Carlos. Every record keeps the page we based it on in enriched_evidence_url, so a wrong match can be traced back and the cause fixed. We are still checking every high-confidence match by hand, and that will continue until we have 300 verified.
